To See the Trees...

To See the Trees

I find, with attention, that 

every day I need 

to step outside of small 

worlds; to see the trees in their strength,

holding silent witness. 

I need to know - again - their roots 

bind the earth together, and 

lift the sky. Doing what 

is only theirs to do,

with little protest.

Leaning into the wind, 

sheltering all manner of things.
